We Have a Problem! – Manchester United vs Hull City Match Review

Before this game I had hoped we would of shown more fight then I witnessed. There was a lack of urgency and desire in that Manchester United side last night, and that is an issue the manager cannot be blamed for. Mourinho has tried his hardest to make sure these players never give up, like we constantly saw last season under Louis Van Gaal. In fact that performance against was a reminder of some of those performances we saw. We have started creating more chances under Mourinho but that isn’t the issue. These players just seem to not turn up when we need them to the most. Players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who had an absolutely awful game, didn’t turn up the slightest. Hull came into this game with the hopes of keeping a clean sheet no matter what the method to do so. So many teams have came to Old Trafford and done this, and that is why we are sixth and struggling to capitalise on other teams dropping points. We struggle to break teams down who put ten men behind the ball, and we end up unable to get a goal past them. These teams know what to do when they come to Old Trafford. They refuse to play football and only attempt to stop us playing football, and succeed. It reminded me of what I see when Arsenal have a chance to take advantage of an opportunity to gain ground on the teams above. We had the chance to gain ground on Arsenal and Liverpool and didn’t take it. The mentality of the players has dropped significantly ever since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. The managers that came in have failed to rally these players together for the big occasion. Even though Mourinho has definitely improved us from last season, there is still so much to do. And I still fully believe he can turn us around.  player on the pitch was not good. The only stand out player was Rojo, who saved us so many times. Everyone else just wasn’t good enough. We need to win against Leicester, otherwise top four could be out of our expectations
